As you may know, the cosmetic doctors at Aētec focus on helping their clients grow old beautifully with the help of injectables but with the most natural results possible. To be able to offer this, the causes of unnatural results be clear first. Only then can a natural-looking result be guaranteed.

Aēstec, in collaboration with various professors and doctors at Erasmus MC, has conducted a scientific study into the causes of unnatural results due to fillers.

“This is a game changer in the world of cosmetic medicine.” - Aēstec

During the study, 28 patients with an unnatural-looking result due to fillers, such as overfilled cheeks, an unnatural effect on the face while laughing & a different position of the eyes, were investigated into the multiple causes of this. This was done using ultrasound.

In short, the research shows that the unnatural result can be caused not only by the incorrect amount of fillers, but also by placing fillers in the wrong layer of skin.

By using ultrasound, it can be determined in which skin layer the filler is placed, creating an optimal and natural-looking result.

In the 28 patients who participated in the study, the previously incorrectly placed filler was dissolved and then placed back into the correct layer of skin under ultrasound supervision.

With this scientific research, Aēstec hopes to contribute to improving cosmetic medicine so that natural results become the norm.

This research was published in September 2023 in the scientific journal “Journal of cosmetic dermatology” and can be read at the link below:
